Blackburn manager Steve Kean expects Fabio Nunes to feature prominently in his first-team plans when the new season gets underway.
The 19-year-old Portuguese winger has not enjoyed the limelight afforded to Kean's more high-profile acquisitions at Ewood Park this summer, but was a stand-out performer in Saturday's 2-0 friendly victory over Fleetwood.
"He's a very quick, dynamic young player," said the Rovers boss. "We had him on trial last season. Unfortunately we didn't get something tied up because it was near the end of the season. He can play wide left, wide right, is very quick with fantastic energy and good technical ability. He's certainly somebody that we've got high hopes for."
He went on: "He won't be far away (from the first team) because what he's showed in the little glimpse we had of him last year is he seems to be one that can adapt very quickly. We only had him for a couple of weeks and we immediately saw him taking on information.
"It will help having Nuno Gomes being able to speak to him - someone of that stature in Portuguese football that the young boys will be looking up to."
