Kieran Trippier is happy to be flying under the radar ahead of Euro 2020 with England after a title winning season in Spain.

The former Tottenham defender celebrated winning LaLiga with Atletico Madrid last month, and was included in Gareth Southgate's 26-man England squad for the European Championship.

Southgate defending his decision to name four right-backs, describing them as talented footballers rather than pigeon-holed players.

The England boss also accused people of forgetting about Trippier because the 30-year-old played his club football abroad.

Southgate said: "We're a bit myopic, that's why people don't talk about Kieran because he's playing in Spain.

“He's won La Liga, he's been voted in the team of the season, nobody mentions him."

The full-back, however, knows that Southgate and his staff have watched every minute of his season and is happy to be performing there and keeping himself to himself.

"I just want to get on with it," said Trippier.

"I just want to focus on myself and do as well as I can because I know I need to be playing very well, because of the other right-backs who are here and players that are not here like [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka, Matty Cash has been doing well.

"There's so many right-backs who are doing very well for the clubs and for me the most important thing is to do as well as I can for my club.

"If I go under the radar I'm fine with that.

"I'm just absolutely delighted, it’s most important that I am here and I'm just really excited for the coming weeks."
