Kilmarnock brave but beaten in Copenhagen tie as Derek McInnes' side eliminated from Conference League
Kilmarnock put on a brave performance against FC Copenhagen this evening - but lost out on aggregate to fall out of the Conference League.
Derek McInnes' side took a stunning lead thanks to a goal from Marley Watkins to give his side a chance following last week's late collapse in Denmark in a 2-0 first-leg defeat. It was an impressive effort from Watkins who would've hoped his goal might mean more in the grand scheme.
Unfortunately for McInnes and Killie, Lewis Mayo was the unfortunate defender who turned the ball into his own net to give the visitors a leveller and take the result out of the Rugby Park side's reach.
It means the end of the road for Killie after they knocked Tromso out of the competition in the last round to the delight of their support following their own loss to Cercle Brugge in the Europa League attempts.
