Klopp slams 'sh*t' German translator during Champions League press conference
Jurgen Klopp has slammed an English-to-German translator during Liverpool’s Champions League press conference after he misquoted Jordan Henderson’s answer.
The Reds manager interrupted to correct the error, telling the translator to “listen” or he would “do it by myself”.
Henderson was asked about the upcoming fixture against Red Bull Salzburg this evening and replied that it “wasn’t going to be easy”. The translator on the panel misinterpreted the skipper’s response, suggesting he had said Liverpool were going to “go easy” against the Austrian side.
“It’s sh*t when next to the translator sits a coach who speaks German,” a frustrated Klopp interjected.
An interviewer asked the Liverpool captain if there was any difference in pressure between their match against Salzburg and other times where the Reds have “needed points”.
“No, I think it’s the same,” Henderson replied. “We need to perform, we need to get a result to get through to the next round which we’ve proven we have done before.
“That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy and we’re going to do it again, but we have confidence in our own ability.”
Reigning European champions Liverpool need at least a point this evening in order to progress to the Round of 16. They currently top the Group E table on 10 points, with Napoli lurking behind on nine and tonight’s rivals on seven points.
