Liverpool have reportedly turned down a permanent offer for Fabio Carvalho but will consider letting him leave on loan this summer to boost his development.

The 20-year-old has struggled for consistent playing time under Jurgen Klopp. Now, amid interest from several Premier League clubs, he could be set to join one of the Reds’ rivals.

Liverpool signed Carvalho for £7.7m fee last summer after he played a starring role as Fulham won the Championship.

Upon his arrival, Carvalho featured in 10 of Liverpool’s opening 11 Premier League matches of the campaign. But, after a good start to life at Anfield, Carvalho saw his playing time significantly limited towards the end of the season.

Indeed, the midfielder ended the season with only 22 appearances – just seven starts across all competitions.

As a result, there is a lot of speculation surrounding Carvalho’s future at Liverpool. However, according to Sky Sports NewsLiverpool have already rejected one transfer offer for the youngster.

TEAMtalk reported on Monday that newly-promoted Burnley were interested in signing Carvalho permanently, for example.

But, despite that approach being pushed back, the Portugal under-21 international could still sign for a Premier League team this summer.

Liverpool to ‘consider’ loaning out Carvalho

According to Sky Sports News’ report, Liverpool have received ‘several loan offers’ for Carvalho from Premier League clubs, which ‘they will consider.’

Their willingness to loan him out was also confirmed by Klopp in a recent interview.

Last Friday, the Liverpool manager said: “I think there is a possibility Fabio could go on loan, but we will see.

“No player has impressed me more than Fabio, that’s the truth. His work ethic will give him a fantastic career.

“His reactions in a row [to not playing], I’ve never seen before.

“This talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations and it didn’t work out – it was okay in the beginning but it didn’t work out in the end.

“But his work ethic will give him a fantastic career because he trained with getting nothing.”

Sky Sports didn’t mention which Premier League clubs had made loan approaches for Carvalho. But, as mentioned, Burnley hold an interest in the midfielder, while Fulham also have their former player on their radar.

As yet, Carvalho has been ‘unwilling’ to accept loan moves to other PL sides. But, if he is set to continue on the sidelines, this may change ahead of next season.

With that in mind, the youngster is certainly a player to watch in the upcoming transfer window.
