Knicks fined $25,000 after not making Julius Randle available for interviews

The New York Knicks will presumably make Julius Randle available for interviews moving forward. If they don't, the team risks another major fine.

The Knicks were fined $25,000 by the NBA on Friday after failing to make Randle available to the media after games.

Randle has not appeared as part of a post-game press conference since Jan. 6, when he drew attention for giving a thumbs down gesture during a game. At that presser, Randle explained the gesture was meant to tell Knicks fans to "shut the f*** up." Randle later apologized for that comment.

Randle received a $25,000 fine from the NBA for using profane language in interviews. In addition to Jan. 6, Randle reportedly also used profane language after a Jan. 5 practice.

Randle has not appeared in a post-game press conference since Jan. 6, though he was available to media after one practice over that period.

After finishing as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference last season, the Knicks are 22-24, and sit in the No. 11 seed in the East. The team has lost its last three games.

Randle is averaging 18.8 points and 10 rebounds in 44 games.
