SCOTT Parker labelled latest signing Marcos Senesi’s brief cameo against Manchester City as “exceptional”, before explaining why he did not start the Argentinian.

Argentine international Senesi became Cherries' fifth signing of the summer window when he arrived at the Vitality Stadium from Dutch side Feyenoord for a fee believed to be in the region of €15 million.

Not named in the starting line up, Senesi was introduced in place of Marcus Tavernier with 10 minutes of standard time remaining with the scoreline already reading 4-0, after goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, and a Jefferson Lerma own goal.

Parker had previously hinted that whilst the 25-year-old would not start the clash at the Etihad, instead saying that he would “be involved in some capacity".

Reflecting on the debut of his new arrival, Parker told the Daily Echo: “I really liked him.

“I thought he did very, very well.

“I know the quality of the player we’ve signed and I thought he was exceptional when he came on for 15 minutes.

“I thought he was very, very good.

“I didn’t feel it was right to put him in in such a game like today, after limited training time with us.

“It felt like a good idea for him to watch from a distance, feel the Premier League and what it’s about and give him a taste of it, and I was pleased with him.”

Jamal Lowe was another Cherry to make his Premier League debut against City, also coming off the bench late on to replace Kieffer Moore after the Welshman had taken a knock.
