Kris Boyd names four Rangers players who can hurt Celtic as confidence flows

Kris Boyd has identified four Rangers players who can hurt Celtic as their confidence flows after thumping Ross County.

Gers found their groove at Hampden at the weekend and turned in by far their most convincing performance of the season so far by putting six past the Highlanders without reply. Rabbi Matondo was outstanding, assisting two and scoring two, while Cyriel Dessers also bagged a brace to make it five for the campaign.

It was the perfect timing to head into this weekend's Old Firm derby with such a display under their belts. Former Ibrox hero Boyd knows his old club will be up against it at Parkhead but feels the belief now coursing through some of their attacking players should help.

He told Sky Sports: "You look at Rangers in recent times going across the city, they've struggled. There is no getting away from it. And they're going to have to find a way to start getting results.

"Celtic have started the season really, really well. Rangers at the weekend was probably their best performance of the season. But Rangers' head-to-head against Celtic has not been good enough. They're going to have to address it if they want to improve.

"There is no doubt Saturday's performance will give them a belief and confidence. You look at Rabbi Matondo, he's been linked with a move away. He came in and got a couple of goals, Cyriel Dessers got another couple, Danilo got one, Tom Lawrence breaking from midfielder and scoring.

"So the confidence is there. But I mean Ross County were very poor at the weekend. I don't expect Celtic to be that poor, I hope they are but I can't see it. I think from Rangers' point of view they're just going to have to go and frustrate Celtic to start with and see where that takes them. We've seen it before where you're underdogs and you go an frustrate somebody and nick a goal somewhere. I think that's where Rangers are just now."
