Hibs hope to complete a season-long loan deal for Celtic outcast Kwon Hyeok-kyu.

Boss David Gray is desperately looking to bolster his options in the middle of the park and the South Korean has emerged as a target. Kwon, 23, arrived at Parkhead from Busan I-Park last summer but has yet to make his senior debut for the Scottish champions.

He was given a taste of Scottish football in the second half of last season, where he impressed on loan with St Mirren. And now, Football Scotland understands the Hibees are in advanced talks over a deal to bring the defensive midfielder - nicknamed in his homeland as 'the Korean Rodri' - to Easter Road.

A deal could be rubber-stamped over the next 24 hours but Kwon will have to wait another week to make his debut, as he will be ineligible for this weekend's Premier Sports Cup clash at Parkhead.

Kwon could form a new-look midfield for Hibs as the Edinburgh club refuse to give up on a deal for Dundee captain Luke McCowan.
