Kylian Mbappe handed fresh brutal L'Equipe front page put-down after Liverpool nightmare
Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has been scolded on the front page of French magazine L'Equipe in light of his side's 2-0 defeat against Liverpool. The Frenchman endured a tough evening at Anfield as he failed to get the better of Conor Bradley and saw a penalty saved by Caoimhin Kelleher.
The Reds dominated their European foes with Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo on target to send Arne Slot's side two points clear at the top of the Champions League. The French international received one of the lowest player ratings from the outlet for the game, as he scored two out of 10 for his involvement at Anfield.
And amid the fallout of the result and performance from the reigning European champions, L'Equipe published a ruthless front page of Mbappe following his display on Merseyside. In a mock-up of the 1998 Steven Spielberg film Saving Private Ryan, the 25-year-old features in the middle alongside Real Madrid club president Florentino Perez, head coach Carlo Ancelotti and France manager Didier Deschamps.

There is a picture of Mbappe in an uncomfortable position following a barge from Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, with the caption: "We must SAVE Kylian Mbappé."
In their blurb above the headline, they added: "Wednesday evening in Liverpool, Kylian Mbappe delivered one of the worst matches of his career.
"The prodigy seems lost, on and off the field. Real Madrid and the French team are at his bedside."
It has been a difficult start to life in the Spanish capital for Mbappe and his showing against Liverpool encapsulated that. His penalty miss handed Andy Robertson and the Reds the reprieve that they needed as they held a slender one-goal lead.
The 25-year-old has seven goals in his first 12 La Liga outings but has found the back of the net once in their opening five European matches. Despite the struggles and media attention, Ancelotti called for patience, saying: "This has happened before in my career many times, forwards when you are a striker you want to score and get a bit of confidence/
"There is a medicine which is a difficult moment for him, I think Mbappe, it is a difficult moment we have to support him and give him our love, he will soon be fine.
"It could be a lack of confidence maybe, sometimes maybe when you have moments when things aren’t working out, the idea is to keep things simple, don’t complicate life.
"You don’t need to blame him for missing penalties, people miss penalties, it happens a lot. Things are not running for him. We've got to be patient. He is an extraordinary player — a fantastic player.
