Kyogo to make emotional Vissel Kobe return as Celtic man's former club release announcement

Kyogo will make a guest appearance when his former club Vissel Kobe take on Kawasaki Frontale.

The Japanese side have announced that their former favourite will be present for the J-League clash on Sunday June 16. The 29-year-old Celtic star will make a special appearance on the pitch at half-time of the game against Reo Hatate's former team, but he will also be on co-commentary duty.

DAZN will be broadcasting the game and Kyogo will be part of it to offer his insights. There were unconfirmed rumours of a return to Japan with Urawa Red Diamonds so Hoops fans will hope his presence back in his homeland is just about being back for a break rather than anything more.

Kyogo signed for Celtic from Vissel Kobe for £4.5million in 2021. He started on fire and despite a fairly lengthy injury during his first season, still scored 20 goals overall and was joint top scorer in the Premiership.

The next campaign saw him take it up a level with a whopping 34 strikes in all competitions as he scooped end of season Player of the Year awards for club and the league. The season just gone, with Brendan Rodgers replacing Ange Postecoglou wasn't as prolific but he still finished with 19 as the Hoops' top scorer once again.
