Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma is ready to force a move back to England this summer amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, according to reports.

The Netherlands international has contributed 16 goals and four assists in 34 appearances in all competitions this campaign as Unai Emery’s side reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Danjuma only joined Villarreal last summer from Championship side Bournemouth – who have now been promoted to the Premier League – for a fee in the region of €25m.

Manchester United are heading into a new post-Pogba, post-Woodward era

There has been speculation that Premier League sides Liverpool and Man Utd are interested in bringing him back to England this summer and Danjuma said this week that he would “have to consider” any interest that took him to a “higher platform”.

Danjuma said: “I was informed that Liverpool were following me closely. I have never had contacts with clubs or anything like that during the season – I always know about the situation after the season.

“I will never lie and I think it’s a bad quality if you are not ambitious. If a club came along that offered me a higher platform to play on sport-wise, I would always have to consider it.”

And now El Periodico Mediterraneo (via Sport Witness) claims that Danjuma ‘wants to leave’ Villarreal this summer and has asked them to ‘accept’ offers from top clubs this summer.

The winger has also instructed his agent to ‘find a way out’ with the report adding:

‘The truth is that Danjuma wants a change of scene and his head is not at Villarreal. Everything happens because the player’s agent achieves a cheque of €40m, a figure close to his termination clause, and puts it on the club’s table to be able to leave.’

Liverpool and Man Utd are mentioned as two of the main four suitors, along with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain and it will come down to a ‘question of money’.

The Premier League is likely to be his ‘next destination’ this summer with the report from Spain adding that Danjuma ‘will do everything possible to leave’.
