Feb. 8—The Somerset Lady Jumpers have been steadily improving throughout the season despite having an extremely young team. That improvement was put to the test as McCreary Central came to the Briar Patch on Tuesday evening. It was a close game between the two regional opponents, but it was the Lady Raiders that had just enough to get past the Jumpers, as Somerset fell in a close one 53-49.
The Jumpers were led by Tori Robertson, who had 19 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double, as well as Sophie Barnes with 17 points. Other scorers included Devan Hurt with seven, Serenity Haynes with five and Sarah White with one. McCreary Central was led by senior Kennedy Creekmore with a game-high 20 points.
Somerset falls to 4-16 and will next travel to Highlands Latin on Friday and Saturday to take part in the Louisville Valentines Classic. They will first face the Lexington Christian Lady Eagles on Friday at 6 p.m.
