Lahm bitter about season of second places

Philipp Lahm admits it is vital for Bayern Munich not to dwell on what could have been as they embark on a new campaign.

The Bayern and Germany skipper admits he was crestfallen after his club lost the Bundesliga title and German Cup final to Borussia Dortmund before losing on penalties to Chelsea in the Champions League final.

"I'll only discuss details in private with the players. But you have to have runners-up in football. It's bitter that it happened to us three times, and especially in the Champions League final, where we were just a tiny step from the trophy," said Lahm.

"Obviously, we could have done better at the Euro, but this is what happens at the highest level of sport. It's all history and life goes on. And we're aiming high yet again!"
