Last-Minute Changes: Lauren Murphy Gets New UFC Fight Night 83 Opponent

Last-Minute Changes: Lauren Murphy Gets New UFC Fight Night 83 Opponent

Former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Lauren Murphy was expected to face Sarah Moras at UFC Fight Night 83 on Sunday, but on Feb. 12, Moras pulled out of the fight due to injury.

On Tuesday, UFC officials announced Murphy's new opponent. Murphy (8-2) will take on promotional newcomer Kelly Faszholz (3-0) at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Faszholz made her professional fighting debut in 2013, but took a 25-month hiatus from the sport. She returned in 2015, competing twice. She's won all three of her fights by submission.

Murphy hopes to snap a two-fight losing streak and capture her first win inside the famed octagon. Three losses in-a-row typically results in fighters receiving a pink slip from the Las Vegas-based fight promotion, so Murphy can't afford to lose.

UFC Fight Night 83 takes place on Feb. 21 from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. Former lightweight title challenger Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone makes his welterweight debt against Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira in the fight card's main event.
