Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update ahead of Arsenal's clash against Paris Saint-Germain. The Gunners will lock horns with Luis Enrique's side at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening, knowing a win could prove crucial in the race for qualification to the Champions League knockout stages.

Arsenal were held to a goalless draw against Atalanta on the opening weekend of the new-look European campaign, meanwhile, the Parisians enjoyed a 1-0 win over Girona. While PSG will miss Ousmane Dembele, who's reportedly been omitted from the travelling squad due to an argument with Luis Enrique, the North Londoners could also be without a big name or two.

Mikel Merino, who suffered a shoulder injury in his first training session after joining Arsenal from Real Sociedad in the summer, will not feature against the French giants, but he has recently returned to training. The Gunners are still going to be without Martin Odegaard too.

The 25-year-old midfielder picked up a 'significant' injury during the September international break. While playing for Norway, Odegaard was bundled over and landed awkwardly on his left ankle – he was later pictured on crutches upon his return to London.

"I think it will be a matter of weeks – how long exactly, I cannot tell you," replied Arteta, when first quizzed on the skipper's return. Then, when asked if Odegaard will feature before the October international break, with games against PSG and Southampton in the calendar, the Gunners boss said that would be a 'surprise'.

David Raya was a doubt for the clash against Leicester City at the weekend, but he managed to shake off his knock and help Arsenal return to winning ways. Ben White missed the Foxes match as he continues to nurse an issue.

He was brought on at half-time of the Manchester City tie following Leandro Trossard's red card, but he was later rested against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup third round. While White remains a doubt, Arteta told reporters at London Colney on Monday morning that the defender is in 'contention' and under 'review'.

"No big news. We have a training session later. We’re not expecting anyone to return," said the Spaniard, when asked for an injury update. Then, when pushed for an answer on White and Riccardo Calafiori, who seemed to pick up a knock at the weekend, Arteta said: "Those are the two players that are in contention and we have to review today."

Oleksandr Zinchenko hasn't featured Arsenal since August, missing the last three Premier League games with a calf injury. Takehiro Tomiyasu is yet to appear for the Gunners this season, but he's seems to be nearing a return.

Arteta said: "He’s progressing really well and is a little bit behind Mikel, but we don’t know with Tomi because he’s another one that pushes every single day. He’s in a good place now I think."

Lastly, Kieran Tierney remains out of action after suffering a horrible hamstring injury for Scotland at Euro 2024. Providing an update on the defender's progress last month, Arteta said: "He needs to focus on recovering in the best possible way, it’s been a tough time for him again with the last injury. We have to try to support him and make sure he gets back fit."
