Arsenal are in the midst of preparing for their first Carabao Cup tie of the season with Bolton as the visitors to Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are fresh off a thrilling draw in the Premier League against Manchester City, with numerous controversial talking points coming from the clash.

Leandro Trossard's sending off was certainly one of the biggest, with the Belgian international now suspended for Wednesday evening's game. Alongside his confirmed absence, Arsenal may also be without Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber after the defensive duo were both subbed off this past weekend because of potential injuries.

Goalkeeper David Raya was another that received treatment from physios, though he continued in an attempt to help his side take all three points. A late goal from John Stones left that aim unfulfilled, and now Raya could be set for a period on the sidelines after being seen hobbling his way through the mixed zone after the game.

When asked for new updates on injuries in his Tuesday morning press conference, Arteta remained coy. "Let’s see who is available tomorrow and then we can talk about dark arts," he told reporters. "Unfortunately, there will be a few players not available. Tomorrow you will find out."

Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard are currently absent and have been ruled out already, though Arteta was able to give a rough timeline on when the latter may return. "I think it will be a matter of weeks, but how long exactly I cannot tell. We might get a surprise, but I think it’s unlikely he’ll be back before the international break," he revealed.

Versatile defender Oleksandr Zinchenko is another key play missing, with Arteta also confirming he is unlikely to return from his latest calf issue for another few weeks. Summer loan signing Neto also cannot feature having already played in the competition for Bournemouth.

Neither Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu have played in the 2024/25 campaign, with the latter injured in pre-season. The Scotland international, meanwhile, picked up a severe hamstring injury at Euro 2024 with an exact return date currently unclear.

Alongside giving a detailed update on Odegaard, Arteta was then specifically asked about Raya and his answer unsurprisingly neither confirmed nor denied whether he would be available. "Let’s see how they are today," he said. "We’ll try to make a call on that if we believe that’s a possibility."
