Latest Rangers transfer news as Dessers rejects exit and Gers face battles for two targets

It has been well documented that Rangers need to sell players before they can buy - but one has reportedly refused an exit route out.

It is claimed that the Ibrox side accepted an offer worth $6m (£5.1m) from Atlanta United for Cyriel Dessers but the Nigerian turned down the chance to move to MLS. International transfer reporter Luca Bendoni says the agreement between the two clubs was close but the player knocked back the move after negotiations. Atlanta recently sold former Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis and Dessers could have replaced him.

In terms of incomings, Gers are being linked to a few names now. We told earlier how they had reportedly sent an enquiry to Fiorentina for their winger Josip Brekalo. The Croatian international had been at Hajduk Split on loan earlier this summer and the Italians are now prepared to offload him permanently.

Rangers have also reportedly held discussions with Benfica’s over wide man Tiago Gouveia as they weigh up a swoop. The 23-year-old played against Gers in last season's Europa League, coming off the bench in both legs, but the Eagles are now willing to listen to offers. illarreal and Anderlecht are also interested though so the Light Blues could face competition.

Domagoj Bradaric is another name mentioned in recent days but Rangers could face a battle to land the Salernitana left-back. Gers are said to be looking at a loan with an option to buy with the Serie A side preferring an obligation. Cagliari, AEK Athens, Real Valladolid and Parma are all interested too though and the former are reportedly preparing their offer.

Gustavo Puerta, previously linked with Ibrox, looks set to seal his Bayer Leverkusen exit with a loan to Hull City the most likely.
