Volkswagen driver Jari-Matti Latvala has spoken about his new team for the first time at today's launch of the Polo R WRC in Monaco.
Latvala joined VW from Ford at the end of last season, but he been unable to talk about the deal due for contractual reasons.
After testing the car in Mexico and France as part of the the team's Monte Carlo preparations, Latvala said: "From what I have seen everybody is very motivated. We have a lot of engineers collecting data. In all the testing that has been done we try to be creative and all the engineers and mechanics are listening to what drivers are saying.
"And they are bringing that information about the car to improve it. I have very positive feelings about the future. When we start the rally there is always fine-tuning to do, and we need to concentrate on details but it all looks very good the for the future."
Andreas Mikkelsen was also confirmed for the first time as a third driver from the fourth round of next year’s series onwards.
Mikkelsen said: "It’s been a few years in the IRC, so it’s great to be back in the WRC with a World Rally Car. I think it was 2008 the last time I drove one, so it’s fantastic to be back. I am so happy to be with a great team and with a great car, I’m really, really positive about the future."
