Lautaro Martinez is “happy” at Inter Milan and the idea of him leaving “makes no sense”, according to the player’s agent.

The Argentine was considered by Chelsea as they weighed up whether or not to ask for players in exchange as part of a deal to send Romelu Lukaku back to the Serie A giants on loan.

Martinez struck up a prolific partnership with the Belgian during the 2020/21 season as Inter stormed to a first league title in 11 years under Antonio Conte.

In Lukaku’s absence last time out, the 24-year-old continued to impress, scoring 24 goals as the Nerazzurri lost their crown to city rivals AC Milan, with only Ciro Immobile bettering his goal tally of 21.

Former manager Conte – now with Tottenham of course - has also been linked with a move for the former Racing Club striker as he chases further additions to a frontline already considered amongst the most deadly in Europe.

Martinez’s agent, however, has stressed his client will remain at Inter even despite Lukaku’s return and continual links with a move for Paulo Dybala.

“Makes no sense to leave Inter, he’s a top level there and he feels loved by the fans,” said Martin Camano (via Fabrizio Romano).

“Lautaro is definitely happy at Inter”
