Roger Federer will play his last competitive match alongside Rafael Nadal in the Laver Cup on Friday 23 September 2022.

The match will conclude the programme of action for the opening day of the team tournament.

Roger Federer was a big part of getting the Laver Cup off the ground and it is almost fitting that he should chose to go out in the team tournament.

As has been well documented, Federer gave up hope of a full ATP Tour comeback during the course of 2022 as he realised time and injuries had taken their toll on his body.

However, Federer, who is nowhere near full fitness will still step out for one last hurrah alongside his greatest rival who has become a close friend.

Before that goes down, US and French Open finalist; World No 2 Casper Ruud will get Europe’s defence of the Laver Cup underway from the O2 Arena in London at 13:00 BST.

Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman will take the challenge to Team Europe’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second match of the afternoon session at the O2 Arena in London.

The night session will open with a match between Andy Murray and Alex de Minaur.

Friday’s main event will be the big doubles match that everyone wants to see with Nadal and Federer teaming up to take on Americans Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

Tickets for Friday’s action have become hot property but single session tickets are reportedly still available from official reseller AXS.

Multi-session tickets for the Laver Cup quickly sold out when the news broke that Roger Federer would be playing his final match at the Laver Cup and there are also no hospitality packages left for sale.
