Laverne Cox shares her tips on how to throw the perfect holiday party

Holiday party planning can be stressful, but if you follow Laverne Cox's advice, you can host the event of the year.

The award-winning actress and LGBTQ+ advocate teamed up with Smirnoff for a whimsical campaign, A Not-So-Silent Night, to explore what the perfect holiday party could look like. From elegant, beautifully-designed decor down to the staple cocktail, in Cox's case it's the classic green apple martini, throwing the ideal holiday soirée does require a bit of work and preparation, but it's all worth it in the end.

"I think it’s about everyone feeling comfortable. It depends on how formal the party is, but if everyone is comfortable, and if they don’t know people there but they still feel welcomed and they’re fed and have the perfect cocktail then that's all that matters," the actress explained. And the key to making everyone feel comfortable, according to the 'hostess with the mostess,' is to keep the drinks flowing and ensure that everyone is conversing with each other.

While the Smirnoff campaign features Cox celebrating the holidays on the luxurious side, the star revealed she prefers to throw more "chill" celebrations.

"I’ve had this fantasy of throwing an ultra-chic party with the fancy green apple martini cocktail," Cox revealed. "But, I like to be really laid back and chill. For me, I like to just have my friends over," she continued.

Whether upscale or laidback, however, one thing remains a constant at a Laverne Cox function, however, and it's that the drinks will be flowing -- and tasty.

This year, the expert party host is relying on Smirnoff's Peppermint Twist vodka along with its classic vodka flavor to keep the festivities going. And the best part about it is that they also make excellent gifts. “Smirnoff is my go-to for the holiday season because they have something for everyone," says Cox.
