Kansas may have been upset by Oregon in the Elite Eight on Saturday, but that won't stop the hometown police department from finding a silver lining in the loss.
The Lawrence, Kan.Police Department's Twitter account is doing its best to look on the bright side of things, starting with the fact that they no longer have to deal with streakers celebrating a Jayhawks win on Saturday.
You heard that right: Earlier in the game — when an Oregon win didn't seem quite so inevitable —a random user tweeted at Lawrence police, telling them to get ready for a streaker.
Lawrence PD, being good sports, actually replied:
100% chance that's a bad decision and it won't end well. https://t.co/iRAPjLGmUi— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) March 25, 2017
That didn't stop the account from taking a slight dig at Bill Self, however
The joke, of course, is that Self has only led the Jayhawks to the Final Four three times since taking over in 2003, and not since 2012. Ouch.
Here are some more attempts from Lawrence police to cheer up disappointed Jayhawks fans:
An intoxicated guy tried to pull a tree out of the ground. His friend carried him off before he could succeed. It's not the trees fault man— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) March 26, 2017
Looks like Lawrence police still have a little work to do tonight, even without the win.
