Lawrence Shankland to Rangers win-win singled out by former Celtic hero
Former Celtic forward John Hartson says Rangers signing Lawrence Shankland would be a "really great move" for both parties.
All summer long Shankland was linked with a move to Ibrox but it ultimately didn't come to fruition, but the forward's contract at Tynecastle is set to expire at the end of the current season. Hearts are set to lose the striker, with two contract extensions already knocked back and no further talks seeming to take place.
A switch to Govan continues to be floated, with former Rangers player Alan Hutton urging his former side to go and sign the 29-year-old. Now, former Celtic striker John Hartson has suggested it would be a wise move for both parties given the amount of games Rangers are set to have, despite the forward's below-par form so far this season. After he played in Hearts' loss at Ibrox on Sunday, he was dubbed outstanding despite drawing a blank.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Hartson said: "The expectation has completely risen since last season with the pressure to go and do it for the second year. I'm talking 30-odd goals, I'm not talking 20. That was a huge, huge tally that he hit last season.
"Hearts, particularly, haven't started the season very well. I think that's been a major part in, obviously, the lack of opportunities, the lack of chances, the lack of all the good play that Heart's did last season in games, you know, crosses into the box, sliding the ball down the side, and Shankland’s great at finishing.
"Would I jump at the signing with only one real... Who are the other strikers? You've got Dessers who scored a very good goal the other night. Danilo just back from injury.
"It all depends what Hearts would demand in terms of a fee. What would it be? Because he's out of contract, but yeah, listen, I would actually agree with Stephen [McGinn] sitting alongside me. I think he'd be a good signing. And I think he [hasn't] just become a bad player. You know, a goal scorer can generally score goals at any level.
"And I would imagine that Rangers now competing, you know, for the title and cups and things like this, he'll get a lot more opportunities at Rangers. So I'm in agreement that, if Rangers want to go in for him I think that would be a really great move for the player and the club."
