A lack of surf coming in from the Atlantic Ocean forced organisers to call off day two.

ASP International head judge Rich Porta remains optimistic that the waves will return to La Graviere before too much further delay.

“There was not too much in the way of waves out there this morning so we have called competition off for the day," he said.

"However, we anticipate a good-looking swell in the coming days and will be back tomorrow to assess the conditions then.”

Current ASP World Tour leader Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater and Taj Burrows are among the names already through to the third round following Friday's heats.

When the waves return, South Africa’s Jordy Smith, Brazil’s Heitor Alves and American Adam Melling will do battle in heat 10 of the seventh stop on the 2012 ASP world tour.

Heat 10: Jordy Smith (ZAF), Heitor Alves (BRA), Adam Melling (AUS)

Heat 11: Julian Wilson (AUS), Adrian Buchan (AUS), Kieren Perrow (AUS)

Heat 12: Gabriel Medina (BRA), C.J. Hobgood (USA), Fredrick Patacchia (HAW)
