I-League 2017: Mumbai FC vs Chennai City Preview - Beleaguered Mumbai face must win tie against Southerners

Relegation flirts Mumbai FC welcome new entrant Chennai City FC on Sunday evening in round 16 of I-League. The Southerners fly to the metropolis city in high spirits following a 2-0 win over fellow newbies Minerva Punjab in their previous fixture. As for the hosts, they head into yet another home game following a stalemate against western counterparts Churchill Brothers Goa.

The Mumbaikars face a do or die situation once again as dropping points would confirm their doubts of exiting the league. The team had a different face under new boss Oscar Bruzon in their latest tie at Cooperage but the problem of woeful finishing seems to never leave them. The 0-0 result against the Konkan side meant that the Yellows and Blues have drawn four games in a row on home soil. But, repeating the same on Sunday evening, won't be feasible.

As for the visiting side, V Soundararajan and company have a terrible away record having won just one of their six away ties. The goal scoring was an issue in the team earlier but the men in green and yellow are bucking up now. The newly introduced side will look to improve their record away from home and also continue their positive form from Ludhiana. With the exemption from relegation, the visitors will be free from pressure. However, the aim to finish in the top 8 for booking a place in the Federation Cup, will push them to put up a tough fight against the Essel Group-owned outfit.

Talking about the home side's team news, midfielder Thoi Singh remains doubtful for the clash as the Manipuri is recovering from a knee injury. Afghan defender Djelaludin Sharityar has been sidelined for the fixture after the 34-year-old severely injured his rib, last week. Brazilian attacker Alex Willian Silva's inclusion remains uncertain as the gaffer has notified that the foreigner isn't fully fit. Clyde Fernandes and  Pratesh Shirodkar could make their way in the starting XI in the absence of Alex and Djelal, respectively.
