Predicted score

Barnsley 2-3 Peterborough United

Key stats

Barnsley have scored at least two goals in 13 of their last 15 League One home matches. There have been an average of 3.4 goals in those 15 matches, with both teams finding the net in nine of them. Peterborough have averaged two goals per game in their last 10 away matches. Peterborough have won seven of their last 10 matches on their travels.

Barnsley have won 13 of their previous 15 League One home matches - only Ipswich and Bolton have left Oakwell with any points since late October, so it's not an easy place to go. If Peterborough's results on their travels are anything to go by, then they may just be up for the challenge. Posh have won seven of their previous 10 away matches and ran Sheffield Wednesday close at Hillsborough. Barnsley looked beach ready when Mo Eisa gave MK Dons a 4-1 lead last week, but the home side crumbled under the pressure and conceded some extremely poor goals to let the Tykes off the hook. Like MK Dons, Peterborough United have the greater motivation in this game. While their shooting boots have deserted them at home in recent weeks, they are scoring for fun on their travels. Darren Ferguson's side have netted 13 goals in their last five away matches. Jonson Clarke-Harris has led the line with five of those en route to winning four of their last five on the road. Since confirming their spot in the League One play-offs, Barnsley have suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Ipswich Town, followed by the frenetic 4-4 draw at Stadium MK. Motivation often comes out on top at this stage of the season and the home side may rotate to protect their key players ahead of the play-offs. There's no way of knowing which team Barnsley will field on Sunday, but even if they do play a full-strength side, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Michael Duff start wrapping his key contributors in cotton wool around the hour mark. This is why we're backing Peterborough here.
