The defender may miss the meeting between two clubs relegated from the Championship last season with a rib injury he sustained in last weekend's nine-goal thriller at Sixfields.

One player who will definitely not feature is striker Ryan Taylor who will be sidelined for up to six weeks with an ankle ligament injury which could see Marlon Harewood playing a bigger role against Kenny Jackett's men.

Louis Carey is still recovering from a dead leg and also looks set to miss out as City search for their first League One victory of the new campaign.

New signing Kevin McDonald is poised to make his debut for Wolves.

The Midlands club completed the signing of Sheffield United midfielder McDonald on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £750,000, on Wednesday.

McDonald passed a medical at Molineux on Wednesday before putting pen to paper and manager Kenny Jackett could decide to bring him straight into the team.

But Jackett could yet be tempted to stick with the same starting 11 that defeated Gillingham 4-0 in their last outing.
