Two of Schumacher’s goals came from the penalty spot – the first after Robbie Willmott had seen red for blocking a goalbound shot with his hands - with his other coming from an impressive effort from outside the area.

Chris Zebroski pulled a goal back with another penalty before David Ball scored the hosts’ fourth.

John-Joe O'Toole gave Bristol Rovers a shock 1-0 win over Oxford at the Kassam Stadium.

The striker made up for a horrible miss in the first half by converting a 71st-minute penalty after Jake Wright tripped Eliot Richards.

Chesterfield were denied a first victory in seven games when Luke Waterfall headed in late on to give Scunthorpe a 1-1 draw at the Proact Stadium.

Marc Richards had given the hosts an early lead but the Iron never gave up and Waterfall grabbed a point in the 88th minute.

Portsmouth almost surrendered a three-goal lead before hanging on to triumph 3-2 at home to Exeter.

Ryan Bird's headed double and a freak goal from Ricky Holmes put Pompey in command at Fratton Park only for a late rally from the Grecians to leave the home side hanging on.

Peter Murphy scored his second last-gasp goal in a week to rescue a point for Accrington in a 1-1 draw with Wycombe that moved Stanley off the bottom of the table.

Lewis Alessandra crowned a man of the match performance with a last-minute goal as Plymouth beat Northampton 1-0 at rain-swept Home Park.

Burton's three-game winning streak came to end as Morecambe snatched a 1-0 victory whilst Torquay climbed above Bury in the table after clinching a 3-1 win at Gigg Lane.

Hartlepool and Wimbledon moved to within three points of the play-off places with victories over Dag & Red and Rochdale respectively.

Cheltenham and York played out a 2-2 draw in the league's remaining fixture.
