Chesterfield went down 2-0 to Burton Albion at the Proact Stadium courtesy of a brace from striker Adam McGurk.

The result ensured that Chesterfield remained on 23 points with the top three sides in the league now all on the same mark.

Rochdale benefited from an Ian Henderson double as they beat Cheltenham 2-1 at the Abbey Business Stadium.

It was considerably more comfortable for third-placed Exeter as they swept past Scunthorpe 4-0 with a brace from Liam Sercombe added to goals from Arron Davies and substitute Sam Parkin.

Oxford United could not keep pace with the two sides above them from fourth as they were held to a goalless draw away at Accrington, while Morecambe shared the points with AFC Wimbledon after a 1-1 draw.

Wycombe pipped Bristol Rovers 1-0 with a goal from substitute Max Kretzschmar eight minutes from time separating the sides.

Mansfield were held to a goalless draw away at Torquay, but Newport County were able to move up to 10th with a 3-0 win over York City at Rodney Parade.

Northampton and Dagenham and Redbridge shared a 2-2 draw at the Sixfields Stadium, while Portsmouth beat Bury 1-0 through Bondz N’Gala’s fourth-minute goal.

Hartlepool overcame the challenge of Plymouth to win 1-0 through Luke James’s goal despite seeing Jack Compton sent off.
