Leeds United summer arrival Luis Sinisterra has revealed how he would like to sign for a Europa League team in the future.

Sinisterra joined Leeds on July 7. According to the Daily Mail, the Whites paid Feyenoord £21million to sign Sinisterra and make him Raphinha’s replacement.

The Colombian arrived at Elland Road with big expectations after a fantastic campaign with Feyenoord last season. He managed 23 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Sinisterra has played 10 times for the Whites since joining, registering three goals and one assist. He has shown glimpses of his obvious talent but is yet to make a huge impact for Jesse Marsch.

This is partly down to a foot injury which kept the winger out of action for Leeds’ final three Premier League matches before the World Cup. Marsch says Sinisterra will be pushing to return for Leeds once the domestic season restarts.

The 23-year-old showed his intention of staying at Leeds for the long run by penning a five-year contract when joining. However, they could end up losing him after that.

During an interview with Dutch outlet Soccer News, Sinisterra admitted his desire to go back to Feyenoord one day.

“Hopefully this [Feyenoord] will be my home forever,” the player admitted. “I’m not saying bye, but see you later.

“Maybe I’ll come back in the future. I’d love it if that happened, but it was time for the next step in my career.

“I wish the team a great season. They’re doing great. I wish everyone the best.”

As Sinisterra states, Feyenoord are doing well without him. Last season, they finished third in the Dutch top flight, behind Ajax and PSV.

This time around though, Feyenoord occupy top spot. They are three points above usual title challengers Ajax and PSV after 14 games.

Feyenoord are also doing well in the Europa League. They came top of Group F, ahead of FC Midtjylland and Lazio, qualifying them for the round of 16.

Leeds will not be too worried about Sinisterra leaving as he will want to spend his prime years with them, rather than back in the Netherlands.

The wide man could also follow in Raphinha’s footsteps, by starring for Leeds before securing a big transfer elsewhere. Of course, Raphinha joined Barcelona in the summer in a £55m deal.

What is clear, though, is that Sinisterra is keen to go back to Feyenoord towards the end of the career. He will probably want to retire at the Dutch club after they helped him develop into an electric winger.

Sinisterra will not be able to watch his nation compete at the World Cup as they surprisingly failed to qualify for the tournament. Colombia finished sixth in COMNEBOL qualification, behind shock teams Ecuador and Peru. Of course, the usual trio of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay made the cut for the world’s biggest sports tournament.
