Leeds United are reportedly targeting another raid on RB Salzburg, this time for midfielder Mohamed Camara amid Kalvin Phillips’ impending exit.

The Whites made a strong start to the summer transfer window following last season’s relegation scare. However, the three new faces in so far have nothing to do with replacements for big-player exits.

Jesse Marsch signed midfielders Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca as fresh faces, not successors to Phillips.

However, with Manchester City close to signing Phillips, now is the time for Leeds to go after replacements.

RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams is a firm target for Whites boss Jesse Marsch. He would become the third player to have signed for Leeds this summer from the Red Bull football stable after Aaronson and right-back Rasmus Kristensen.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post now claims that Aaronson’s former Salzburg team-mate Camara is another midfield target for Leeds.

Whites director of football Victor Orta reportedly ‘admires’ the Mali international. That is despite Camara being a target on the ‘pricier’ end of Orta and Marsch’s shortlist.

Reports have revealed that Adams has a £32.25million release clause in his Leipzig contract. Although, it remains unclear if Camara would cost more or less than the American.

The YEP claims that Leeds are looking to bring Adams and Camara in as part of an exciting triple swoop.

The Elland Road club also want Club Brugge attacker Charles De Ketelaere, with Raphinha’s future in doubt.

Camara moved across Switzerland to Salzburg from FC Liefering in the summer of 2019. He has since made 76 appearances for the club, mainly in a defensive midfield role.

He has played further forward, though, including one appearance in an attacking guise.

Camara could rekindle Aaronson connection at Leeds

Leeds will need to act to replace Phillips amid his move to City.

They have already bolstered with Roca from Bayern Munich and Aaronson from Salzburg.

And if Camara joined Aaronson at Leeds, the pair could rekindle the connection they built up last season.

The pair featured alongside each other regularly, including in every Champions League game as Salzburg reached the last 16.

Former Salzburg and Leipzig boss Marsch is looking at his previous connections to bolster his Leeds team.

And rekindling the partnership between Aaronson and Camara may yet prove fruitful in the Premier League.
