Leeds United are reportedly ‘courting’ Watford winger Ismaila Sarr after their star forward Raphinha was sold to La Liga side FC Barcelona.

The Yorkshire outfit had a tumultuous season in 2021/22. Their beloved manager Marcelo Bielsa departed though their campaign ended on a high as they beat Brentford on the final day to stay up.

Leeds have had a hectic summer as well with Jesse March looking to build a team around his preferred style ahead of his first full season in charge.

Arsenal outcast and £46m signing among the Premier League virgins we’re most excited to see

Their task this summer was made more complicated with Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips being sold to Barcelona and Man City respectively.

Raphinha and Phillips are going to be big losses but Leeds have moved decisively to replace them.

Around £100m has been spent on new recruits, with Tyler Adams joining from RB Leipzig to step in for Phillips.

Leeds have also spent big to sign Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra and Red Bull Salzburg attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson.

March’s side have also been linked with Southampton forward Che Adams in recent days. He is out of contract in 2024 and the Saints are ‘willing to listen to offers’.

Ex-Premier League striker Kevin Campbell thinks Adams would be an ideal signing for Leeds:

“I like Che Adams. He is a good player, a strong player who scores goals. Yes, he scores goals in bunches at times but he is a handful,” Campbell told Football Insider.

“Leeds could do with someone at the top end of the pitch who is physical and can get hold of the ball. That is what they lacked when Bamford was injured last season. They need another striker who can occupy centre-halves.

“I think that would be a good signing for them.”

Sinisterra has already been billed as Raphinha’s replacement, but now Leeds are tracking Watford winger Sarr.

The 24-year-old was involved in seven goals in the Premier League last term and he has previously been linked with Liverpool.

Sarr playing in a front three alongside Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis is pretty unfair on Championship teams, so they will be hoping Watford sell at least one of them.

According to Foot Mercato, Sarr is ‘being courted’ by Leeds United and he would be ‘tempted’ by this transfer.

The report adds that Watford value him at €35m with his contract not due to expire until 2025.

Leeds are also ‘very attentive’ to PSV starlet Cody Gakpo. Arsenal ‘have also enquired about him’ and the Dutch side want €30m if they are going to cash in this summer.
