Nearly two weeks have passed since Leeds United last played and it’s been easy to forget there were three changes in that game from Daniel Farke. It was a busy period of games and the manager evidently wanted to shuffle his deck in that last game before the break.

A fortnight on, I would reverse two of those if I were in the dugout on Sunday. Daniel James is someone that has to be starting on the most recent evidence. The Wales international has looked far more effective than Manor Solomon, while Largie Ramazani needs a few cameos before he can be considered ready to start.

James’s return to the right flank would also allow Wilfried Gnonto to play off the left flank, where I feel he plays his best. The block between the last international breaks was frustrating for the Italian and the hope is he can start making a more consistent impact again after this little reset.

The other change may be more contentious in some minds. Mateo Joseph, fresh from his latest Spain under-21 goal, will hope to continue at the tip of the attack, but I would replace him with Joel Piroe.

The Dutch striker has not been perfect, but his goal against Queens Park Rangers was another reminder of his quality. The fact it’s a return to his former club is an irresistible narrative too.

Elsewhere, Junior Firpo’s ongoing suspension keeps Sam Byram at left-back, where Isaac Schmidt, the only real alternative, is unavailable anyway.

Beren’s XI: Meslier; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Byram; Tanaka, Rothwell; James, Aaronson, Gnonto; Piroe.
