Leeds United returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road. It was not pretty and the opposition was limited, but the Whites eventually got over the line with a Jayden Bogle strike and late Joel Piroe goal.

The first half went in the direction everyone would have expected. The Whites came in at the break with a 1-0 lead after Bogle scored from close range. Leeds would have wanted a bigger lead from their dominance, but took what they had.

The second half saw Leeds threaten still, but the visitors were given far more openings to get back into the game, despite their generally poor level. Piroe put away a late second.

Leeds United (4-2-3-1)

1 Illan Meslier

Not much for him to do. Looked a little stranded on the occasions QPR did get an effort near the goal. 6

2 Jayden Bogle

Scored the goal, which was scruffy, but symptomatic of the positions he was picking up. Bogle raided forward all afternoon and consistently provided a problem around the box for the visitors. Deliveries were decent enough too, just needed the attackers to be in the right areas. 8

6 Joe Rodon

Very solid shift. Battled with a limit Zan Celar and never came off worse. 7

5 Pascal Struijk (c)

May have had a goal or two on another afternoon with his aerial threat from set-pieces. Not bothered at all by the away attackers. 7

25 Sam Byram

Tried to get forward as often as Bogle, but caught offside far more frequently. Two tight moments away from an assist and goal in the first period. Not troubled in defence too much. 7

22 Ao Tanaka

Cruised through another one. Moves the ball around so well with so much composure. Careless by his high standards once or twice, but generally ran this game without any issues. Close to a gorgeous assist on Byram's head in the first half. Good shot or two from range of his own too. 8

8 Joe Rothwell

Some decent set-pieces, but some poor ones too. Passes did not seem to create the openings Leeds needed. 6

29 Wilfried Gnonto

Not quite hitting the mark at the moment. The odd dribble or pass might catch the eye, but it all seems quite middle of the road when it comes to the sharp end. 6

11 Brenden Aaronson

Pinged the ball off the crossbar in a nod to Daniel Farke's pre-match comments. Some decent balls in the first half, but went out of the game and seemed smothered in the second. Lovely involvement for the goal late on. 6

14 Manor Solomon

Still waiting for that bottle of ketchup to flow. Decent finish ruled out for an offside, but other than that, Solomon did not do a huge amount to hurt QPR. Evidently off the wavelength of some team-mates. 5

19 Mateo Joseph

Busy, but not a lot sat up for him around the box. 5

Substitutes

26 Karl Darlow

7 Daniel James (on for Solomon 72min)

Didn't inject a lot different into the home attack. Some good crosses off his right and left. 6

9 Patrick Bamford

10 Joel Piroe (on for Joseph 71min)

Not really noticed until he popped up late with another classy finish. N/A

23 Josuha Guilavogui (on for Rothwell 84min)

Late change. Some good challenges which raised the volume. N/A

33 Isaac Schmidt (on for Gnonto 90min)

On at the death. Neat involvement in the late second. N/A

39 Max Wober

42 Sam Chambers

50 Charlie Crew
