Leeds United rivals make Championship table admission as 'main focus' revealed

With just 15 games played, it's fair to say that a lot will change before we know Leeds United's Championship fate this season.

We're not even a third of the way through the campaign yet, so any predictions can be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, there are at least 21 sides who would swap places with Daniel Farke's side right now, with the Whites sitting in third place during the current international break.

Of course it counts for little in mid-November, but Leeds will return to action against Swansea City next Sunday in form, and with confidence high in the camp. Farke is an experienced campaigner, having twice won promotion from the division with Norwich City, so knows what it takes to get across the line.

Significantly, their promotion rivals are all falling into line as expected, with only Sunderland as a surprise package so far. Sheffield United and Burnley have responded to Premier League relegation impressively, sitting second and fourth respectively at this stage.

Not that Clarets boss Scott Parker is even looking at a league table right now. The former Tottenham and Newcastle United midfielder has little interest in where his side are in the division at this stage, but knows that if they find consistency then it will be enought to keep them among the leaders.

“It’s always important (to stay in touching distance of the top sides)," Parker told the Burnley Express. "I don’t really take too much notice of the league, I couldn’t tell you where we were or how the league’s looking, but it’s a competitive league and there’s going to be three or four teams in and around it.

“If we win our games and if we win games, it takes care of itself and that’s my main focus really, to develop this team, keep pushing them in the right way and get us to a place where we’re comfortable and we’ll be in and around it come the end of the season.”

Having lost 1-0 to Burnley at Elland Road in September, Leeds will have the chance for revenge when they meet at Turf Moor in a game scheduled for Monday, January 27 (8pm).
