Leeds United will soon add three players to Daniel Farke's strongest matchday squad
Promotion back to the Premier League is at the top of Leeds United's agenda this season. Despite some criticism from supporters over their style of play, Daniel Farke's team entered the international break two points off the summit and with the best goal difference in the Championship.
The Whites are the second highest scorers in the division with 24 goals from their opening 15 matches. They also boast the joint-best home record, having garnered 19 points from a possible 24. Not too shabby at all.
Yet Farke has still copped flak in some quarters from pundits. EFL expert Sam Parkin told the Championship Check-in podcast: “I think the sense is that Daniel Farke just lacks a little bit of a plan B… lacks maybe the tactical acumen of maybe some of the other managers that they have had or some of the other managers that have been in the Championship in the last few seasons. We probably saw that didn’t we in the playoff final against Southampton.

“Sometimes it feels a little bit like ‘we have good players, forward players in particular, go and create carnage and win us the game’. So, maybe it’s a bit of a product of that.”
Does Farke lack a 'plan B'? Does he sometimes need to make substitutions to change the course of a match? Those are often the criticisms levelled at the German by his critics, particularly when the Whites have chucked points away in the promotion battle.
But there are two automatic promotion places up for grabs and United are well-placed to get one of them with a third of the season gone. They are in a strong position and Farke should welcome a number of players back into the fold over the coming weeks.
Exciting winger Largie Ramazani appears to have stepped up his recovery from his ankle injury. They have missed his pace and dynamism in the final third.
United will have to make do without Junior Firpo for the next two fixtures. His three-match suspension comes to an end after the meeting with struggling Luton Town on Wednesday, November 27.
A hip problem has kept Joe Gelhardt on the sidelines in recent weeks. Gelhardt has not had the game time he would have liked this season but he has frequently been on the bench. Whites supporters will be hoping for positive injury updates on Gelhardt and Ramazani when Farke faces the media next week ahead of their trip to Swansea City.
