Leeds United have been linked with Manchester City's James McAtee for a number of transfer windows. The Whites have a fondness for the 22-year-old midfielder, who has previously spent time on loan at Sheffield United.

With the January transfer window approaching, talk of a potential move to secure a loan deal for McAtee has once again resurfaced. Leeds boss Daniel Farke did not get the number 10 he had hoped to land in the summer transfer window, with McAtee able to play that role, as a central midfielder or out wide if further cover if needed for Leeds.

McAtee has so far been unable to establish himself as a regular figure in pep Guardiola's team and as a result it is believed the current league champions are willing to let the player go out on loan, although a permanent deal could also be on the cards.

West Ham United have reportedly shown their interest in signing McAtee in a £20m deal, however it is thought Julen Lopetegui and the Hammers see the signing as one for the summer, especially if the club lose Lucas Paqueta. If the Hammers are to hold off until next summer it will open the door for McAtee to go out on loan in January.

Leeds, who do not have the funds to commit to a January transfer for McAtee at the price being discussed, could swoop to get a loan deal done with Guardiola not one to stand in the player's way if more game time is sought. A loan move could increase McAtee's transfer value or see the player kick on to the level which will convince the champions to give him more of an opportunity.
