Leeds United are increasingly hopeful of securing the signing of Arnaud Kalimuendo next week, per the latest reports.

The Whites have invested heavily this summer, bringing in seven new players to boost Jesse Marsch’s squad. Indeed, four of those players – Ramus Kristensen, Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Brenden Aaronson – are expected to feature in Saturday’s Premier League opener against Wolves. Leeds, though, are yet to sign strengthen their attack – and that remains an area of priority in the final month of the transfer window.

To that end, Leeds did all in their power to sign Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugges. Their efforts ultimately fell short, with the player and his agent lifting the lid on the Leeds approach here.

Undeterred, Leeds do have other irons in the fire – and it seems they have settled on a move for PSG frontman Arnaud Kalimuendo.

The 20-year-old has impressed during a two-year loan stint with Lens over the past two seasons. And he has also caught the eye of PSG coach Christophe Galtier during his pre-season outings for the Ligue 1 champions.

However, despite Galtier’s ideas of integrating him into their set-up, PSG sporting director Luis Campos is planning to sell Kalimuendo.

With several attacking options at their disposal, it seems unlikely that Kalimuendo will feature many times for PSG. As such, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and new signing Huo Ekitike are all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Galtier, however, would prefer to cash in on Mauro Icardi. The Argentine is also down the pecking order and available for transfer.

However, with Leeds reportedly making their move for Kalimuendo, PSG have seemingly laid down their transfer terms.

Price set for Arnaud Kalimuendo to make Leeds transfer

To that end, the Ligue 1 giants are reportedly setting Leeds a new, slightly increased price for the transfer.

Indeed, reports last month claimed Leeds had failed with an opening £17m offer amid claims PSG are seeking nearer £21m.

Now, though, according to multiple sources, including 90 min and The Sun, a new agreement worth £22m (€26m) will reportedly be struck next week.

The deal may, or may now, include a clause for PSG to re-sign the striker in future years. That is a stipulation that Galtier is certainly keen to include.

Either way, the paper is confident that a deal to bring Kalimuendo to Elland Road will go through next week. The signing will give Jesse Marsch another much-needed option in his forward line.

The club needs cover and competition for Patrick Bamford, who struggled for fitness last season. And while Bamford is expected to start on Saturday, as he approaches full fitness, Marsch is wary of ensuring Leeds United are not left short again.

Joel Robles deal on brink of going through for Leeds

Arnaud Kalimuendo, though, is unlikely to be the next new player through the doors at Elland Road.

That honour is set to fall upon Spanish goalkeeper Joel Robles, with Leeds now reportedly having reached a full agreement for his signing.

News of Leeds interest in the former Everton keeper emerged on Thursday.

Now, as per AS, the Whites have settled on personal terms to bring the stopper to West Yorkshire.

‘Leeds reach an agreement with Joel Robles,’ they wrote.

‘He was without a team and would arrive as a free player, as AS advanced.’

He will likely sign a two-year deal at Elland Road and will compete with Kristoffer Klaesson for the right to deputise for Illan Meslier.

AS claims Robles will undergo a medical at Thorp Arch early next week with his signing likely to be announced soon after.

Leeds are in need of a new goalkeeper, having allowed Kiko Casilla and Elia Caprile to both depart this summer.

Meanwhile, Andrea Radrizzani has opened up on the moment he decided he had to sack Marcelo Bielsa – and of the backlash to his axing he knew he would face.
