Leeds remain interested in Adama Traore with their director of football Victor Orta ready to try and sign him for a second time, TEAMtalk understands.

The Spain international has just returned to Wolves after spending the second half of last season on loan at former club Barcelona, where he failed to score in 17 appearances and had four assists.

The 26-year-old has already made it clear to Wolves that he will not sign a new Molineux deal. Indeed, Traore has been looking for an exit from the club for the last 12 months.

Tottenham and Leeds have shown strong interest, and both remain keen. That’s especially given it’s now believed Wolves would accept £20m or even less to land him.

Orta signed him for Middlesbrough during his time at The Riverside, landing him from Aston Villa. Indeed it was during his time at Boro that Traore’s career was resurrected.

Now it is believed Leeds feel Traore could be part of the solution to replace Raphinha. The Brazilian has made it clear he is looking to leave Elland Road this summer.

Signing Traore would give Jesse Marsch’s men incredible pace in the forward positions. However, the winger remains wildly inconsistent in his performance levels.

His move back to Barcelona did not quite go to plan. Indeed, it appears a decision not to re-sign the player permanently was made early in the loan period.

Traore remains an enigma

Traore has often had an issue with his final ball, although that has improved marginally over the years.

That fact is realised in his stats, with Traore scoring just 28 goals and adding 57 assists in 333 career games at club level.

In the Premier League has notched just eight times and laid on 16 goals in 160 games.

So, while £20m could de deemed a bargain figure for a player with serious attacking ability – it’s also a major gamble.
