Roma captain and Serie A legend Francesco Totti has named another popular captain as the best English player he has ever faced in his 25-year career.
The 40-year-old star, who has spent his entire career with Roma, called ex-Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard "a champion" and "an example", when posed with the question during a Q&A to celebrate the launch of the limited edition Nike Tiempo Totti X Roma boots.

Both academy products, Totti and Gerrard, quickly became immensely popular with their respective clubs for their passion, skill and longevity.
Gerrard is now a coach at Anfield after leaving the club as a player in 2015 to spend 18 months with LA Galaxy in America's MLS.
Totti, however, has never left his home in the Italian capital and has made 615 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi, since his debut in 1992.
When asked what has been motivation to remain a one-club man throughout his career, Il Capitano cited his dedication to his childhood dreams and love for the city of Rome.
"Rome is the most beautiful city in the world. It’s always ready to surprise you with a tiny street, a corner, a detail. As a Roman and a Rome supporter, it’s been an honour to build my career here," he added
"Of course, I could have won more trophies somewhere else, but my biggest trophy is my loyalty to Rome."
