The club responded by saying that they are aware of the situation but will not take any further action against the Nigeria international as he was released.

“We are aware that Ahmed Musa has today cooperated with a police inquiry relating to a disturbance in the early hours of this morning,” a Leicester City spokesman said.

“'The inquiry has since been closed and no further action is to be taken.

“We see no reason for formal action internally, though Ahmed will be given the opportunity to discuss the matter with football management when the squad returns.”

Later on Wednesday Ahmed Musa posted to his Instagram account wishing his wife a Happy Birthday but made not reference of the arrest.

Musa is the club's record having joined Leicester City from CSKA Moscow but has fallen out of favour since Shakespeare took over the reigns from former manager Ranieri.

Musa has made 30 appearances for the Foxes but has not played since the side's 3-2 victory over West Ham and has not started a game since Leicester's 3-0 loss to Manchester United on the 5th February when he was removed at half time.
