Both Tottenham and Leicester asked the Premier League to postpone their clash at the King Power Stadium – and it will be interesting to see what shape both teams are in tonight.

The two clubs have had their own Covid issues and will have depleated squads.

The meeting sees Brendan Rodgers - who was strongly linked with a move to Spurs prior to the summer appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo - play a side he could well have joined earlier this year.

Spurs re-opened the first-team areas in their training ground after their recent Covid-enforced shutdown, although it remains to be seen what kind of squad Antonio Conte will have available for the game.

Prior to the postponement of their games against both Rennes and Brighton, Spurs had been building up a head of steam under Conte, who remains unbeaten in a Premier League context since joining the club in October.

Date, kick-off time and venue

The game is scheduled for a 19.30pm GMT kick-off time on Thursday December 16, 2021.

The King Power Stadium in Leicester will host.

Leicester City vs Tottenham team news

Both Tottenham and Leicester saw calls to have the games postponed by the Premier League rejected, such are the problems they’ve endured of late.

Conte has revealed three of his nine Covid-hit stars are expected to have returned from isolation in time to be in the squad – but are only set for places on the bench, as the head-coach eases them back in gently.

Conte said on Wednesday that his returning players would likely be limited to 10 or 15 minutes, against a Foxes side who will be missing nine players of their own through illness or Covid-19.

Spurs trained with just 16 senior players on Wednesday and Conte is set to include a number of youngsters on the bench.

Rodgers will be without nine players.

Leicester City vs Tottenham prediction

Clearly, much depends on who is available but Leicester have proven shaky in defence all season, even if Newcastle were unable to lay a glove on them.

Spurs might not yet have fully clicked into place under Conte but there are green shoots of promise.

Spurs to win 1-0.
