Leigh winger Kieran Dixon has switched to Championship rivals Widnes on an initial two-week loan deal.
Dixon, 29, can also feature at full-back and joins with a wealth of experience. He has previously played for London Broncos and York City Knights in the Championship, as well as a Super League stint with Hull KR.
His arrival comes amidst several injuries in the Vikings squad, with eight missing out on last Friday’s defeat to Leigh. Three more players left the field with knocks. They fell to a 36-6 score to Adrian Lam’s side.
Dixon has made a total of 205 appearances during his career so far, scoring 143 tries and kicking 284 goals.
Kieran Dixon on new move
He said:“I’m looking forward to this opportunity to express my talents on the field.”
Dixon also spoke about what he can bring to the team over the next couple of weeks: “A lot of energy. I like to get involved and try and take some pressure off the forwards with the amount I carry the ball out of yardage.”
He could make his Widnes debut against Batley this Sunday. On the prospect of facing Batley this weekend, he added: “They’re a team who are doing well so far this year, but they’re beatable, the same as anyone in the league. I think we just go into this game all guns blazing and not hold anything back. We’ve got more than enough to pull out the win and try and find that winning streak again.”
Most recently in the Championship, Featherstone made the signing of former Toulouse playmaker Johnathon Ford.
The 32-year-old had been without a club since leaving the French side on the eve of their first ever Super League season, and will link up with Brian McDermott’s promotion favourites at Post Office Road in the next fortnight.
