Leinster have announced that both Ryan Baird and Ronan Kelleher have resumed first team training following medical issues to help bolster their forward pack.

The Irish provincial side will receive reinforcements to their pack ahead of their Champions Cup quarter-final clash with Leicester Tigers away at Welford Road this Saturday.

Max Deegan could be a possible addition to the squad too for the away day should he pass his shoulder assessment later this week.

Not only that, but Leinster will have Johnny Sexton, Robbie Henshaw, Garry Ringrose, Tadhg Furlong, Hugo Keenan, Caelan Doris, Jack Conan, James Lowe, Josh van der Flier, Jamison Gibson-Park and Ross Byrne back in the squad after Leo Cullen elected to send a weaker side to South Africa.

International rescue

This allowed his Irish internationals rest ahead of their all-important fixture with the current Premiership leaders Leicester.

Head coach of the English pacesetters Steve Borthwick is well aware of the statement the European giants made by keeping their starters back at home for the two-game tour of South Africa.

“I think everybody knows what a great team Leinster is and the incredible record they have in Europe,” Borthwick said on the Midlands team’s website.

“It is an organisation with incredible resources and depth; you just need to look at the fact they have been able to leave a team at home while they tour South Africa to prepare for next week’s game.

“That’s not something many teams are able to do, it’s not something we are able to do in the Premiership, and we know it will be big challenge.”
