Mark Wilson has warned Lennon Miller against joining Celtic right now.

The Motherwell talent has been linked with of the Scottish Premiership's big two as his reputation as a star of the future continues to grow within Fir Park. It's a question of when rather than if he eventually leaves the Steelmen for a bigger club. But former Hoops defender Wilson isn't sure if a switch to Parkhead would be the wisest move this early in Miller's career.

"I’m not sure if it would be [a good move for Lennon Miller to go to Celtic]," he told Gambling.com, who rank and review the best betting sites. ".Lennon Miller at this stage probably needs to play as many games as he possibly can. Would he break into that Celtic team at the minute? I'm not sure. I'm not saying he's not got the talent to do it, he's an incredibly talented boy.

"I would like to see him get another half-season playing for Motherwell. The world's his oyster, he's going to be an incredible footballer, he is a very good footballer, but maybe staying where he is might do him the world of good for now."

Wilson reckons England beckons for Miller. And compared him to two of the Scottish Premiership's most successful exports. He continued: "I think he will have major interest from clubs down south. Because you’ve seen the success of some of our young Scottish players that have moved down there, and maybe English clubs are rethinking their transfer policies and where they source their players, especially with Brexit.

"Two standout young players that have moved from Scotland to clubs down south are Andy Robertson and John McGinn. Lennon Miller can be every bit as good as them, if he gets the right move and the right advice. His dad's a very knowledgeable person in football and keeps a level head, so I'm sure he'll advise him correctly.

"It’ll be interesting to see how brave Motherwell are in terms of what they demand for him, because he’s worth a lot of money."
