Levada – our new ski racing suit

The secret has been revealed – the design of the new Descente alpine ski racing suit for Swiss-Ski athletes is no longer under wraps. Following its 51 World Cup podium places and nine Olympic medals last winter, the Swiss alpine team is set to enter the upcoming competition season with new colors and a new racing suit called «Levada». In the 2022/23 season, Swiss ski stars will be hitting the slopes with a fresh look and will once again be fighting for every last millisecond.

This evening, the main partner Sunrise together with Swiss-Ski presented the racing suit for the first time in front of athletes and in the presence of media representatives and partners at the JED event location in Schlieren, ZH.

The final design was preceded by a long process with the supplier Descente as well as the involvement of many other stakeholders. The racing suit is a key element for athletes on the road to success and every detail counts. «Our athletes represent Swiss skiing all over the world and our racing suits are recognizable wherever they are. The interest shown in the new design prior to today’s launch illustrates just how strongly the Swiss snow sports community feels about the gear,» says Urs Lehmann, President of Swiss-Ski.

It took time and effort to get from the first sketch to the initial design, then to the testing phase and ultimately to the final product – «Levada». «This is the first major milestone in our partnership. We are really proud to have been able to help design the new racing suit. I am convinced that Levada will contribute to many more top achievements by Swiss athletes,» says André Krause, CEO of Sunrise.

This «journey of development» was captured by MySports in cooperation with Filmgerberei and is presented in a four-part series. The first three episodes of this mini documentary were already screened at the event venue as part of a large show in the evening. They are also available online at swiss-ski.ch and at sunrise.ch – as will the fourth episode be when it is broadcast on MySports.

The «Levada»

The new racing suit has been given a Rhaeto-Romanic name meaning «Sunrise» or «Rise again». The message of «rising again» is perfectly in keeping with the brand promise of the new Swiss-Ski main partner Sunrise: «Dream Big. Do Big.». Inspiring people to dream big and also do big things. It’s a motto and a name that should also give Swiss-Ski athletes an additional motivational boost when they put on their racing suit.

The Swiss-Ski athletes are due to receive the new suits in the coming days, so they can continue their training with a fresh look. The team surrounding World Cup winner Marco Odermatt, who is currently living in the training camp in Zermatt, will already be putting the new racing suit to test on Wednesday, July 6. The new «Levada» will then make its grand entrance at the start of the World Cup in Sölden in October.
