Lewis Hamilton spoke of gratitude for his friendship with former physio Angela Cullen, and the pair are planning a reunion soon.
Cullen became the physio and assistant to Lewis Hamilton back in 2016, though over time Cullen also became something of a chauffeur and confidante for the seven-time World Champion.
They went their seperate ways on very good terms though in March of 2023, Cullen keen to live adventures outside of the Formula 1 circle.
For that reason there is no suggestion of Cullen returning to Hamilton’s inner circle, though Hamilton says the pair are going to arrange a meet-up again very soon.
Nothing too dramatic though..just a spot of parachute jumping.
“I miss her every day,” Hamilton is widely quoted as having told L’Equipe.
“She was a breath of fresh air for me every day. She was always a great help during the seven years we worked together.
“She was and still is a very good friend. In fact, we’re talking about getting together again and doing something together soon, like parachute jumping, maybe.
“We’ll never leave each other. I’m very grateful for everything she’s given me.”
Hamilton’s former Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg previously spoke of the potential impact of Cullen no longer being by Hamilton’s side in the world of Formula 1.
However, Hamilton played down any suggestion that Cullen’s exit has forced him to change his approach.
“No, because I think you always have to adjust your routine,” was his response to that theory, “but the team helped me bounce back.”
On the track Hamilton certainly seems to have that pep in his step back after a far improved showing for Mercedes at the Spanish Grand Prix.
The team predicted that this would be where they saw the true impact of their major upgrade package introduced for the W14, and indeed Mercedes appeared to take a clear step forward at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya by establishing themselves as the second-fastest team behind Red Bull.
Hamilton crossed the line P2 as George Russell made it a double podium for Mercedes, with Hamilton now out to eliminate that gap to runaway leaders Red Bull as F1 2023 rolls on, or if not, then he targets being right there from the start of next season.
The upcoming Canadian Grand Prix will provide further insight into whether Mercedes can sustain their form shown in Spain.
