MYSTERY surrounds when a Dorset Lidl will open – after bosses said it would be ready in spring this year.

Lidl in Christchurch Road, West Parley, appears to be complete from the outside, with freshly laid tarmac in the car park and signs up telling customers what hours it will be trading.

However, the new supermarket has yet to open, with it previously understood the supermarket would be open in September or possibly the autumn.

The Daily Echo has asked Lidl if it has an opening date yet, but a spokeswoman said there are no updates to give.

Lidl has been recruiting for the West Parley supermarket on jobs website Indeed since around July, advertising for a range of roles for both management and sales assistants.

It was understood the grand opening was delayed because of ongoing roadworks in Christchurch Road, where contractors were carrying out restructuring work of the road with new traffic lights opposite Lidl.

This appears to mostly be complete, but cones remain and the traffic lights are covered.

The boss of the firm tasked to complete this told the Echo in July that this should be complete “by the end of the summer, possibly September”.
