Mundo Deportivo report that Barca still consider Aguero their priority but it is becoming clear that it will be impossible to convince Manchester City to sell.
Napoli would be far more open to a deal, however, although any more would still not be straightforward. The Serie A side a year ago paid Madrid €38m (£31m) for the Argentina international and would require more than €40m (£32.5) to do business.
But that is substantially below the amount City would demand for Aguero, using Madrid’s signing of Gareth Bale as the standard. City are said to feel that if Bale cost Los Blancos €100m (£81.2m), Aguero couldn’t leave for anything less.
In Higuain Barca feel they have a player who is relatively young - 26 - but with a lot of experience of playing at the highest level. Higuain could be motivated to move to Camp Nou to prove to Madrid they were wrong to sell him.
